Zac Chandler
PADI Staff Instructor
It was in 2016 while on my honeymoon when my wife was getting annoyed because I wanted to keep going swimming. It was at this point she told me to go and find something to occupy my mornings with.I found myself at the water sports shop when I saw the dive boat returning from a day out. It was at this point I knew and asked what I had to do to get on it. Simple, do a course he said. So there and then, I did my PADI Discover Scuba followed by my PADI Open Water. That pleased my wife as she could sunbathe in peace, and she could read her book. Two years later I returned to the Bahamas to continue my diving journey with the PADI Advanced Open Water course.
I booked another trip to return the following year, this was where I met Paul. He told me about his dive centre and we exchanged details. I had no real desire to dive in the UK until my step son informed me that he wanted to become a PADI Divemaster as he would like to become a stuntman.
So, I got in touch with Bespoke and we planned out all the courses that we needed to do, to become a Divemaster. My step son did his PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water with Bespoke, but struggled to meet the time commitments to go further. I continued as at this point I, was hooked!
I managed to complete all of my booked courses and I became a Divemaster. It was a simple step from there to decide to become an instructor. I embarked on my IDC with Bespoke, and completed My Instructors Exam. You can check out my Instructor development journey in my blog. In 2026 I decided it was time to continue learning and took the next step to become a PADI Staff Instructor, which means I can now help to teach new instructor candidates.
I now dive more in the UK than anywhere else and I love it!
